  1. Last night we watched Delirious, released in 2006, also by DiCillo, also starring Steve Buscemi. The premise: Buscemi is a paparazzi who takes on a homeless kid as his assistant. The kid, an aspiring actor, is discovered and becomes a celebrity, the object of media adulation, and Buscemi is pissed because he can’t get exclusive photo shots of his former protege. So here’s a different version of the camera turning its focus on the cameraman, of the subject becoming the object. That’s the theme of Oblivion too, which is a movie about making movies. It’s curious to see these themes, rendered in a more delirious tone by Lynch, DiPalma, Cronenberg, etc., given something close to the Hollywood treatment by DiCillo.
