Wow, Erdman, you’re still out there. See, it must have worked — the lure of hotness. So how about Soren Kierkegaard, Jean-Luc Marion, and John Caputo? And the winner is… Kierkegaard by a mile. He even cleans the PoMo dudes’ clocks.

    Dear John and Ktismatics,

Although it was fun to compare names of great thinkers by numbers, (I used to be good at maths and enjoyed statistics), I’m missing the verbal content part. That’s what I’m visiting your blog for…

    part of your audience,

    Odile –

Thanks. I agree, the numbers don’t tell much of the tale. As was the case on your post about IceRocket, the best and most important ideas aren’t necessarily the most popular. That’s one of the important themes of life, I believe.

Indeed, it is a red thread in my life that the important ideas are not the most popular. But a strange thing that keeps reoccurring in my life is that the friends I pick start with being unpopular and after a while become succesful… Not that I care about success, I do care about qualities and development, so I tend to hang out with people who develop themselves continuously.

Continuous self-development is a characteristic I value in people as well. I don’t know if it requires self-discipline or a willingness to follow one’s interests wherever they lead.

Do you think there is a relationship between hope, sorrow and passion or drive? I’m starting to think there is.
